The Word of God is King!
One of our most important beliefs is that the Word of God is Supreme.
Here is a general list of our beliefs. If you have any questions about these beliefs of if you would like any clarification, please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
STATEMENT OF BELIEFS
WE BELIEVE the scriptures as found in the 66 books of both the Old and New Testaments to be the verbally inspired Word of God, inerrant and infallible in the original manuscripts, and the absolute authority over all matters of life and faith (Ps. 119; Matt. 4:4; Luke 24:27; 2 Tim. 3:15-17; 2 Pet. 1:19-21).
The Nature of God
WE BELIEVE that there is one true God, eternally existent in three persons–the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory*. He is perfect in Holiness, Justice, Wisdom, Power and Love (Deut. 32:4; Ps. 104:24; Isa. 6:3; Matt. 28:18; 1 Tim. 1:17; 1 John 4:16); and that He has revealed Himself to man more fully through the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ (John 1:14; John 1:18; John 14:9; Heb. 1:1-3).
* Scriptures revealing the triune nature of God (Gen. 1:26; Gen. 3:22; Gen. 11:7; Ps. 110:1; Isa. 48:12-16; Matt. 3:16-17; Matt. 22:41-46; Matt. 28:19; Mark 12:35-37; John 1:1-3; John 10:30; John 14:15-24; John 15:25; Acts 17:29; Rom. 1:20; Rom. 8:9; 1 Cor. 3:16; 2 Cor. 13:14; Col. 2:9; 1 Pet. 1:11; 1 John 4:15, etc.)
WE BELIEVE that in the beginning God created in six literal days the whole of creation out of nothing by His Word (Gen. 1; John 1:1-3; Isa. 40:25-26). He created and sustains all things for His own pleasure and purpose (Gen. 1 & 2; Ex. 20:11; Col. 1:16; Rev. 4:11; Heb. 1:1-3).
The Lord Jesus Christ
WE BELIEVE in the Lord Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten and beloved Son (Mark 1:11; John 3:16; 1 John 4:9). We believe in His deity (John 1:1-3; Col. 2:9-10; 2 Tim. 1:10; Heb. 1:1-8), His miraculous conception by the Holy Spirit and virgin birth (Matt. 1:19-23; Luke 1:26-35), His miracles (Matt. 8; Mark 9:20-27; John 2:1-11; John 11; John 20:30), sinless life (Acts 3:14; 2 Cor. 5:21; Heb. 4:15; 1 Pet. 1:19), and substitutionary atoning death as payment for the sin of the world (Rom. 3:25; Rom. 5:6-8; 2 Cor. 5:21; Heb. 10:1-4; 1 John 2:2); that He was placed in a tomb and arose bodily from the dead on the third day (Matt. 28:1-10; John 2:22; Acts 3:15; Acts 10:40; Rom. 8:34; 1 Cor. 15:20); that He gave many infallible proofs of His resurrection (Luke 24:7; Acts 4:33; Rom. 1:3; 1 Cor. 15:3-8), then ascended to the right hand of God where He presently sits making intercession as our Great High Priest (Mark 16:19-20; Eph. 3:13; Heb. 4:14-16; 1 John 2:1-2).
The Holy Spirit
WE BELIEVE that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the eternal Godhead who convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and the judgment to come (John 16:7-15; Acts 5:1-11; Rom. 8:9; 1 Cor. 3:16) for the purpose of drawing men to faith in Christ (John 6:44; John 15:26); that He regenerates (John 3:5), comforts and indwells (John 14:16-17; John 15:25, John 16:13-14; Rom. 8:9-16; 2 Cor. 1:22; Gal. 4:6; Eph. 1:13), helps, counsels, intercedes (Rom. 8:26-27), teaches (John 14:26; 1 Cor. 2:9-16; 1 John 2:20) and empowers (Zech. 4:6; Acts 1:8; Acts 4:31) all who believe in Christ to live lives that are Holy and pleasing to God (Gal. 5:22-23); and that, at His will, He bestows spiritual gifts upon every believer for the work of God (Rom. 12:4-8; 1 Cor. 12:4-31; Eph. 4:11-14).
The Nature of Man
WE BELIEVE man was created in the image of God (Gen. 1:26-27), but by one act of disobedience (Adam’s sin) (Gen. 3; Rom. 5:12-19) man fell from his original position bringing physical and spiritual death (Gen. 2:17; Rom. 6:23) upon the entire human race (Adam’s descendant’s). We believe that all men are sinners by nature and choice (Ps. 51:5; Gal. 3:22; 1 John 1:8-10) and, therefore, alienated from God (Eph. 2:1; Eph. 4:18; Col. 1:21); and that, due to his own sinfulness, man has no means of reconciling himself to God by his own moral efforts (Rom. 5:6; Eph. 2:1-13).
WE BELIEVE the salvation of man is a free gift of God’s grace to be received only through faith in Christ alone (John 14:6; Acts 4:12; Rom. 3:22-31; Rom. 4:13-16; Rom. 5:1-2; Gal. 3:22-26; Eph. 2:8-9). All who turn from sin (Prov. 28:13; Luke 13:3; Acts 3:19; Acts 3:26) and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ will be born-again (John 1:12; John 3; Acts 16:31; Rom. 4:24; Rom. 10:9-10), indwelt by the Holy Spirit (John 14:17; Rom. 8:15; 2 Cor. 1:22; Eph. 1:13;), become a child of God (Gal. 3:26; Gal. 4:5-6;), receive a new nature (2 Cor. 5:17; Eph. 4:24; 2 Pet. 1:4,) and the gift of eternal life in Christ (Rom. 6:23; 1 John. 5:11).
WE BELIEVE that through our knowledge of Christ, His Word, and the indwelling Holy Spirit, we have all things that pertain to life and godliness (Phil. 4:13; 2 Pet. 1:3). Thus, we have all necessary means to live righteous and holy lives to the glory of God (Matt. 16:24; Rom. 12; Rom. 13; 2 Cor. 7:1; 1 Pet. 1:16).
WE BELIEVE that every believer is directed by God to follow up his commitment to the Lord in the ordinance of baptism by immersion as stated in the scriptures (Matt. 28:19; Acts 2:38; Acts 2:41; Acts 8:12; Acts 8:37; Acts 18:8). We believe that baptism is symbolic in nature serving to identify a believer with the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ (Rom. 6:1-6; Col. 2:12). Baptism is one of the first acts of obedience by the new believer. It is an outward proclamation and confession of the inner work being accomplished through faith in Jesus Christ. Although not essential to salvation (Luke 23:32-43; John 3:16; Rom. 10:9-10; 1 Cor. 1:14-18), baptism is still a very important part of our Christian life and should be one of the first steps of the new believer (Acts 8:12-13; Acts 8:37-39; Acts 18:8).
The Lord’s Supper/Communion
WE BELIEVE that in obedience to the Lord’s command all believers are to partake of the Lord’s Supper until Christ’s return (Luke 22:17-20; 1 Cor. 11:23-34). We believe the elements have no saving merit, but are symbols of Christ’s Broken Body and Shed Blood for our sins; and that the Lord’s Supper should be highly valued and celebrated on a regular basis (Acts 2:42; Acts 20:7).
WE BELIEVE that although the ceremony of physical foot washing (John 13:1-17) may be debated as to its standing as a literal ordinance of the Lord, we believe it to be a valid practice in the life of the church. The ceremony of foot washing serves as a reminder to us of the One who laid aside the Glories of Heaven and girded Himself as a mere servant of men (Mark 10:45; Phil. 2:7). Therefore, just as our Savior, we should serve one another with all humility. Foot washing also reminds us of our constant need to be cleansed from sin by the water of the Word (John 13:8-11; John 17:17; Eph. 5:26).
WE BELIEVE in the imminent, personal and literal return of the Lord Jesus Christ to receive all who belong to Him; and that at His return the dead in Christ shall rise first and those who remain will be caught up to meet Him in the air and so we shall ever be with Him (Matt. 24:42; Luke 12:39-40; 1 Thess. 4:13-18; Tit. 2:13;).
The Resurrection and Judgment of Unbelievers
WE BELIEVE that at the moment of death, the soul and spirit of every unbeliever goes to Hell (Luke 16:19-31; Rev. 20:13-14) and remains there until they are resurrected to stand before the Great White Throne of Judgment where they will give an account of their deeds before a Holy and Just God (Luke 12:2; Rom. 2:1-6; Rev. 20:11-15). Everyone who dies without Christ will be cast eternally into the Lake of Fire without any hope of redemption (Rev. 21:8).
The Resurrection and Judgment of Believers
WE BELIEVE that at death, the soul and spirit of every believer goes immediately into the presence of the Lord to remain until Christ’s return (2 Cor. 5:8; Phil. 1:23) in which every soul and spirit will be reunited with their resurrected, immortal body (Rom. 8:11; Rom. 8:23; 1 Cor. 15:51-57; 1 Thess. 4:13-18). We believe that according to the scriptures every believer must stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ; and that every believer’s work will be tried for the purpose of receiving or suffering loss of rewards (Rom. 14:12; 2 Cor. 5:10; 2 Tim. 4:8).
